Harry Potter and spicy Indian food...

just before bed makes for some pretty interesting dreams....
Today we made a pilgrimage to Housewerks, one of Baltimore's largest antique architectural salvage shops. It's in an old industrial section of town, or as Ken put it, smack in the middle of the 'hood. It is housed in the former Chesapeake Gas Works, a building that dates from 1885. Ken and I both agree that this place alone is totally worth the drive from Ithaca and it is definitely the highlight of our trip so far. We were drooling over the photos on the website and in person, well let's just say it was a good ten minutes before I could even speak. It is amazing!

The building is near the port and has an array of old windows
and doors
and all manner of unidentified rusty stuff out in the
well protected parking area.
They have bucket after bucket of beautiful colored glass shards from a stained glass factory. Need a sink? They have them in almost every size and color!Inside and out there letters everywhereHad we been able to hoist this big "D" off the ground, it might've made the trip back with usThe entrance and interior is even more grand than the outside of the building suggests
Time to head down into the basementwhere you can see the original large pipe from the gasworks and many nooks and cranniesAn early implement of torture otherwise known as a salon machine for giving permanents. We've come a long way!Wish we had the porch to go with this hanging light
Do you think this we have room for this in the car?
There were lots of artifacts from an old carnivaland a complete GE kitchen with dishwasher and oven and more push button controls then a old Corvette! Can we just stay here all day, please?
