Sensitive People

There's no getting around it, it is hot, damn hot. Hot with a capital T hot, as in take off all your clothes and stand in front of the refrigerator with the door wide open hot. Definitely too hot for this thin blooded, native Floridian. We'll hit 96 today - add in the humidity and it feels like 100. It looks like this heat wave will be with us for another two or three days. There is even an ozone/air quality alert today for those "sensitive people" with lung issues. That would be us. I'm hoping we find little reason to leave the house since we're finally settled upstairs with all three window units running full tilt and the french doors downstairs closed to keep it that way. I think I can make it now...I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

Being the positive person I am, I guess I can find a few
reasons why this heat is a good thing.
This year we'll get tomatoes in JULY. Last year they ripened in early September.

The hydrangeas can't seem to get enough of heat. Some days they
look as if they'll just wilt away but by the time the shade returns
in late afternoon, they're back to being their big old fluffy selves.

The oak leaf hydrangea we received as a wedding present three
years gave us flowers for the first time this year. Five BIG blooms! It is stunning. Thank you Joann and Joseph.

The wild roses have begun their grand sprallin an effort to drown out all the stuff that I actually planted.
I'd pull them out except that they smell so darn sweet.

Even the humble marigold looks calm and collected these days.It hardly even breaks a sweat.

We almost have more basil and mint than we know what to do with. Now this is a problem I can deal with!
Is it time for mojitos yet?
