Independence!

We were pretty bummed about spending the 4th on dry land and then Sandy and her family graciously invited us to spend the day with them at their sweet little cabin on the west shore of Cayuga Lake!

Love, love, love the porch.

Zach and Jake, Sandy and Pat's two boys were therealong with a host of friends and extended family.

There was swimming,
frisbee, and leisurely paddling along the shore.

We enjoyed drinks with sparkly straws, and some of us even enjoyed paddling
with
our drinks and sparkly straws.Suki the wonder dog was therealong with her cousin Luigi.
Sandy's sis was there to keep the big snake from coming ashore,
while Pat got his groove on in the kitchen. He even let Ken and I try on his amazing specs
to see if they would inspire any sweet moves. We have a little work to do....
or we need another drink with a sparkly straw
(perhaps both).

Throughout the day and evening there were many additional
drinks to enjoy - all with sparkly straws!
Ken and I had a lovely walk down the lake shorewhere there was just a wee bit of cottage envy going on.Oh come on, who am I fooling here,
there was a LOT of cottage envy going on.
The view from Sandy's cottage is (as Sandy would say) delicious.
We even spotted the little cabin we rented last
year directly across the lake from her place. It's the little white spot near the right on the shore.

The spread was amazing,
but sadly the homemade moon pies and chocolate covered strawberries didn't photograph so well in the pitch dark, so you'll have to trust me on this one.

Did I mention the drinks with the sparkly straws? We got up close and personal with the fireworks

and after wards a roaring bonfire, which was evidently a little hot.It inspired some very creative s'more
making from the dedicated youngins'.Nice heat shield...Yikes!

There was so much to enjoy, but best part of the day by far for me was having an entire day to hang out with my favorite folks in the prettiest place on earth. It hardly gets better than this. Thank you Sandy. You are the best ever. Ciao Bella.
