Happy Parade

Grassroots is here! Time to march in the Happy Parade,
buy cookies from the Quakers, and put on your best tie-dye shirt.Better pull out the folding chairs, fill up the coolerand get ready to get your groove on!
Cheers!

We got a late start this afternoon but still managed to make it in
time to hear the Grady Girls in the dance tent. After wards we ambled over to the grandstand to
hear Mountain Heart, a fantastic band from North Carolina. I totally want to play like this guy...

I was very happy to see that my favorite festival food
vendor Stonecat Cafe was back again this year
with their to-die-for catfish and cornbread.I was tempted by their corndogs, but that'll have to wait until tomorrow.

We had dinner with Lexi and Frank,a glass of wine with Philand then settled in to hear Merle Haggard.

Frankly I'm always a little relieved to see that Ken
and I are not the oldest geezers at the Grassroots these days! Merle must be at least 70 himselfand he still attracts fans of all ages. The man can still singand he plays a mean fiddle too.His twang is just as I remember it from my childhood
when my dad would torture us by playing his records. Wouldn't my father get a kick out of knowing I paid
big money to hear the guy on purpose today!Stay tuned for Grassroots Day Two!
