Though I'm really ready for some time away, I'm just a little reluctant to leave the kitties for too long since Peter is still at loose ends without Franklin. The good news is we'll have a sweet house sitter staying here who loves kitties. It's also a little hard to leave the garden right now since this is the time for the big blooms. I wish I could some how capture the sound track that accompanies these photos. There is such a symphony of birdsong of birdsong today!
The hydrangeas are loaded with massive blue flowers and the hybrid lilies are just starting to bloom.
The native lilies are right behind them. Here's the first bloom of the season.
The poppies are done for now but their seed heads continue to take on the most beautiful bluish hue. We may see another round of blooms in the fall if we have a late frost.
The clematis got so heavy with flowers it finally just slumped on over. One of these days we'll build an arched trellis and a gate in between the house and garage. Then the trumpet vine and the clematis will have some where to really stretch out.
The tomato plants have flowered and the carrots, beans and peas are growing so fast you could almost sit down and watch it happen. The asparagus is done and the spears that didn't get picked have turned into the most beautiful feathery fern-like bushes. Cue cilantro!
When these morning glories start blooming it'll be quite a sight!
It's just past solstice and that means it's time to dance
around the bonfire and eat ginormous bowls of pesto pasta. Please summer, won't you just slow down a little bit...
