Distilled

My life, as distilled by Amazon.com...

Invalid toilets seats with handles

A reacher/grabber thing on a stick

An hour glass-shaped sponge for bathing

Self-adhesive postal labels

A heating pad for use in making beer

Happy Friday, everyone.

Silver Lining

The surgery is over and I am finally home. That quick and easy same-day procedure turned into three days and two nights, was way more painful than anyone expected and has resulted in my being completely dependent on K. Anyone who knows me well knows I'm struggling being dependent. I'm dealing with it as best I can.
And what is the bright side to all this you ask? I'm digging deep to come up with answers. The first and foremost silver lining is that I'll be able to start hiking, walking and dancing again once I'm fully healed. I'll be also be all fixed up in time for Ken's sabbatical. Lastly I am learning to give up control.
Look, there's silver another lining right over there!

All-Terrain

The FOUND FLEA, life on one level, packing & shipping, shipping & packing and navigating with an all-terrain knee walker. That's what's on my mind this week. The old left foot is finally getting its fix on Monday (gulp) and with that comes a host of new experiences.
In the meantime, Spring is keeping me occupied, distracted and busy. Pain? Heck yeah, I've been living with it so long I don't know life without it. Not being able to walk, asking for help and staying off my feet? Well, that's another story all together.

The stack of books and videos beside my chair is growing daily and so are the projects which can be done sitting down. Pricing postcards, tagging linens, making listings. Ok, I guess I'm ready.
Ready to get this whole thing done and over with!

Ever

Getting up with the sun
Morning coffee on the porch
Scrambled eggs with asparagus and chives
It's been the most beautiful Spring ever.

All That Matters

April zoomed by quicker than any month this year and today is T-minus two weeks ’till the first FOUND FLEA and that old foot fix that’s needed to happen for a couple years now.

There’s much to do but today, but instead we're resting and recouping. Coffee on the porch with the NY Times, chicken marinating for the grill later tonight and maybe even a few asparagus spears from the garden.

It’s Spring and that's all that matters.

Scrap

We are in the mad scramble to be ready for the May FLEA and it is compounded this year by the fact that I'll be on crutches for six weeks starting May 18th...the day after.

It's a little like Groundhog Day this whole FLEA prep thing and after doing it now for four years I see there are a few things I can always count on.
  • That box I've been searching for for months will be located in the first few minutes and by the end of the day it will be lost again.
  • We will always have enough stuff for the first FLEA...and the second and third and sixth.
  • The barn we're supposedly building needs to be at least as big as our garage and maybe even double or triple. There's definitely room for it.

And lastly...
  • That pile of pieces and parts that seemed worth saving last Fall looks an awful lot like scrap metal in May.
